Problem with ThinkVantage Access Connections...

#1 Post by JanC » Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:15 pm

Hi...
First thing: I am from Germany so please uuuhm ignore some grammatical issues in my Posting ... Thank You :-)

I have just reinstalled my IBM R31 using the IBM Recovery-CDs and downloaded the new Access Connections. Now theres a Problem creating a new Location (I don't know if it is called "location" in the English version, I am from Germany and have a German Access Connections where it is called "Standorte" which means locations in English).
When I start Access Connections I am asked to create a new location. If I click the "create..."-Button it says:
"Die Funktion "neues Profil erstellen" ist inaktiviert. Wenden Sie sich an den Netzwerkadministrator."
In English this message means something like:
The function "create new location" is disabled. Ask your networkadministrator

Is it possible that the new Access Connections is not compatible with my WLAN-Adapter?
I am using a Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN MiniPCI-Card (because the IBM/Intel 2200BG did not work stable and I need 802.11g).
But it worked with the older versions (before it was called "ThinkVantage...").

Do you have any other ideas what to try?

Thank you for any help
Jan-Christoph

Access Connections 4.11a has a checkbox in the "Configure" Global Settings" section that says "Allow Windows users without administrator privleges to create and apply location profiles." Without this box being checked you will experience the problem you are having.
