R&R3 problem

#1 Post by Baloon » Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:40 am

Hello,

I've tried to restore may T42 to factory settings. First I've made 1 recovery CD. After it I've booted with this CD and made fresh installation of WinXp Home. But there was some error in initialisation after files was copied. So now I can't boot. If I boot with linux I see small partition C with about 600MB and there is directrory Minint. Is it possible to continue with instalaltion? I have only one recovery CD which was made by R&R3 by me.

Thank you.

First of all, the Product Recovery Disc set that you should have already made consists of about 6 or 7 CD's. So you never burned what was required to restore your system if it was completely damaged.

Perhaps you can boot from the Windows XP Home CD and use fdisk to remove all existing partitions, then create a new partition, then format, then install Windows XP Home. Before you do this however, go into the BIOS and under Security, set the Predesktop Area to Disabled. This should allow you to remove it.

I have not done the above procedure, but I think it might work. If you can't get Windows XP Home installed, you can order the Product Recovery Disk Set from IBM/Lenovo for about $50 US.
