Windows messenger
Windows messenger
This program is driving me crazy. I had this removed from the add/remove windows components a while ago and for some reason its popping up again. I went back to check and it is still removed from the list. How I permanently remove this program. Its annoying.

You can also get rid of it in startup with the startup control panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml).

That is how I initially removed it and it is still un checked in the component area, but this program has just recently started popping up and I dont know why. Before it did not.Kyocera wrote:I've also used a similar program to remove messenger that dsvochak mentions just from kellys-korner.com, you can also remove it from the add remove windows components in the add remove programs if you are familiar with that.
The only new program I have installed recently on my computer is Trillian.
I shall try this remove program when later on tonight.

I used the program that was posted above and it seems to have worked well thanks.
After I restarted I had an option to remove some personal setting I click yes, was that what I was suppose to do

Windows XP starts Messenger as a service at boot.
Set it to disbaled to in the Services window of the Control Panel.

I think there is some confusion in this thread on what Messenger actually is (there are three!).
What do you mean by Windows Messenger Service?
What's the difference between MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger?
What's the difference between MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, and Windows Messenger?
