Windows Vista?
Windows Vista?
So who will be upgrading to windows vista when it comes out? I read a review on PC magazine last month and it looks nice and pretty, but I will most likely not be upgrading. Its just a more user friendly interface and a bunch of unnecessary gizmos which I could do without.

I won't be; all I am seeing now is more delay.
And I wouldn't get my hopes up about the "pretty interface"
See; http://www.theregister.com/2006/05/09/w ... a_clarity/
So I am going to give it a good wait.
The delays are both good and bad; bad in the classic sense of the word "delay" in that they actually do delay the final release of Vista, and good in the sense that they also delay Microsoft's slow-but-sure drop of support for XP which is hopefully in the far off future.

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I remember when XP first came out, it took a whole year after its release to be decently functional without glitches. They released a number of patches due to the glitches from the original release.

Count me as a non-upgrader.
It's getting annoying hearing the same song and dance from Microsoft. First enticing people with many new "innovative" and "revolutionary" features (which happen to be already implemented in other operating systems) only to withdraw such plans from the final product which is bug ridden and unsecure. Not to say any piece of software isn't buggy at initial release - issue lies in acknowledgement of such.
XP will serve me well enough... as a secondary OS. I'm planning to migrate all my systems to linux by the time vista ships.

Just makes me love Mac OS X, and Ubuntu even more.
Windows XP is about as far from inovative, or even stable as you can get. It's buggy and pretty much a copycat OS. It's survival is based on the fact that it costs businesses more to switch due to transition costs and relicensing than it is to keep/upgrade. And end users are mainly influenced by what they use in the workplace.
Switching to my Mac is a like a breath of fresh air... things just work, it's smooth, simple, well designed.
