XP Startup wallpaper/Desktop wallpaper
This is bugging me, but it only happens on my R40, not the desktop.
When I turn on, after IBM screen, it shows the IBM map wallpaper, then goes to the XP logon screen. Once I logon, it then shows the wallpaper I have set, which is not the map.
Why does the first wallpaper come up when its not even set...or is a setting hidden somewhere?
If it makes any difference, I only have it set up for one user account.

I have seen this behavior before. It is some sort of Windows quirk/annoyance. Windows seems to remember the previous wallpaper that you used. If you want to get rid of the map, choose a solid color for the wallpaper, then apply. Now choose the wallpaper you really want and apply that. Now when you boot, you will see the solid color wallpaper first, and later your chosen wallpaper. I am sure there is a registry fix for this, but I haven't looked for it.

You can use Microsoft Powertoys TweakUI to tweak the User Interface.
eg you can select a background as your bootup background that you see before you log in.
The other toy I have is X-setup Pro 6.6 (last free version) that can be used to change all kinds of settings and even the OEM branding in System properties.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I have used this method successfully in the past, with one variation. I just chose a bland wallpaper that was included in Windows (i.e. Feather Texture), and used the tile feature to expand it across the screen.
I believe you need to reboot after appling the solid wallpaper, then apply your chosen wallpaper. Did you do that?
