Windows Movie Maker.

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Wed May 31, 2006 3:10 pm

Service pack 2 upgrades the Windows Movie Maker, with nifty new options and effects. I still have service pack 1 and want to know how I can get the WMM with the new effects and customization? I believe the updated version is Windows Movie Maker 2.1

edit- without upgrading to SP2

No way around it - you must install SP2 for it to work. See here for details.

Or get Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 as I did. MUCH more value and functionality, and you can save to many formats, and burn DVDs with custom menus etc. And, depending on your locale, you may quality for a rebate.

P.S. with your 2nd HDD you'll get great performance. I bought a 2nd HDD just for PE2 and Photoshop CS2.

Why wouldn't one upgrade to SP2? It's been out for long enough to be pretty bug-free, it doesn't use more resources than SP1, it's more secure... One cannot dream of a secure computer without the latest bugfixes, all of which require SP2. :?
