can't stop the ext dvd!! any ideas?

hi guys,

it seems impossible to stop the ext dvd (a nec into a lacie casing), i give fn+f9 or windows utilty but i constantly get "cannot stop device.....because a program is still accessing it", even when is no pg runing!

is it safe to just pull the usb cable out from laptop? any ideas for a safe removal?!

I always remove USB devices without using the "Safely Remove Hardware" function. Just pull the plug
