How can I save a JPG image from Google Earth ?

#1 Post by Rahula » Sat Jun 03, 2006 9:59 am

I am using the free Google Earth on my Thinkpad T23 with Windows XP, but when I save the jpg image, it turns out all black.

However, when I did the same thing on my Apple iBook, I managed to save the JPG picture in all its glorious color!

Can someone tell me how I can get the JPG picture when using my Thinkpad?

Thanks.

I am sure there is more than one way to do this. It might be your browser causing the problem. I use Opera, and with it I just right-click on an image to save it. I haven't been using Google Earth, so I don't know if there is anything different about it.

Gomjabbar: google earth is a standalone program, not a browser based application.

Rahula: I use Faststone Screen Capture for this. Free and works very well; can capture to file, to clipboard or to an image viewer. Nice because you can select the size of the image you download.

szymon: FastStone works beautifully. Thank you very much for your quick reply. I had posted the same question at the Good Earth Hacker forum but got no answer.
