I have heard a few not be able to install the ultra nav driver, I can tell you that i did it but had to use compatibility mode, same with ATI.
Well I have tried to install with the comp mode but I get silly error messages like "another user is using this software" so no luck there... btw thanks for your quick mail earlier today kyocera...
so I will see if this upgrade works in just a few minutes... shure hope so
UPDATE
no it didn´t work... [censored].. seems to be no way to get my dear Ultra nav to work with Vista...

The ATI driver? What do you mean? ATI has a Windows Vista Beta 2 driver available, which can be installed with no compatability options checked. The Ultra nav worked on my system with no drivers installed.

OK, OK calm down, I've been running build 5308 for a while now and there WERE NO ati drivers for my t42 available back then. If there are now that is great. And people have been having trouble with their ulra nav as some have posted here , so it is also great that you have not had trouble.

Pemoz, I can tell you I had to install hydra vision before installing the ati driver to get it to install correctly, initially i thought this was a fluke so I wiped the drive and started again just to test this out and (on my system, t42 with Vista build 5308) it works if you install hydra vision first. These drivers are right out of the IBM TOOLs > drivers folder.

jesusfreak, hope you didn't get flooded out today, I was all over Raleigh and Durham this morning and it was freakin awful.

That seems to be a bit long in the tooth....What's your internet servers rate of transmission? How many gigs per minute?

I would like to download but it would take way too long...

Have fun :D

?? wow you are getting some bad speeds from MS there guy I like did it in 3 to 4 hours on SBC/AT&T DSL...and on my A31

Even one sshould go read the reviews and all on Vista and laptops.

There are some big limits to what systems can handle Vista in full mode with Aero Glass you need 128 meg to 256 meg of graphic memory alone. and Ideal system would be 2.0 gig CPU 256 DDR video memory graphic card and 2 gig Ram or and 20 gig of HD space(but I think some said you can get way with 15gigs)....Vista is a monster OS and I only plan on running bata on a desktop for testing and all . I also hear MS has anothere OS modle in the works to replace this so ...beware of another ME as vista could just be all eye candy and Bloatware(definitaly Bloatware)..I seen only a few Thinkpads that could handle Vista dn all were newer models. on older one you will get at best a a desktop that look and acts as XP....

Later..

Got the DVD yesterday and decided to take the plunge today. Pretty disappointed, actually - there's nothing that convinces me that I should move away from XP.

Ultranav

#67 Post by Buccaneerfan » Thu Aug 17, 2006 11:06 am

Hiya,

my first post here...

Has anybody got any hints on why i seem to be unable to install the ultranav drivers on my z60t 2511-3BU with Vista Beta 2 Build 5384?
The software seems to install, although i have to restart the installation midway through the process but i can't find any entry under programs and the device manager only shows a ps/2 mouse.
I used the latest package for ultranav from the Lenovo website.
Apart from that Vista runs okay, the high def audio driver doesn't really install itself permanently but the rest is okay.

Thanks

Try using compatibility mode when you install it. There is some discussion back through this thread on that.

Yeah, i read that, but it doesn't work. The install script tells me the it needs W2K or XP to function and stops after that.
