Thinkpad Preloaded Software Take Up A Lot of Ram

#1 Post by vito » Wed Jun 14, 2006 11:07 pm

My IBM Z60M has 1GB of Ram. However everytime I reboot and the RAM remaining when entering Windows is less than 600MB. May I know how to disable some non-useful service or disable some think vantage program to startup so that I can gain a lot of RAM from it? Any suggestion?

I strongly suggest that you do some searching with Google to find out how Windows XP manages memory.

Cheers,

Ya i try disable some unnecessary stuff but it still the same. Everytime I entering windows, CSS takes nearly 20mb of ram while Access Connections take nearly 100mb of ram. Even TP Productivity Centre takes 10 mb of ram. I try to figure out the way to reduce the amount of RAM allocate to those program. Consider me a n00b here, need all your help.

are you sure access connections isnt taking 10MB of ram, and not 100 as you say? i dont see any reason why it would be such a resource hog. its listed in kilobytes, not megabytes.
