Thinkpad Bluetooth SW 5.0.1.2800 will not install

#1 Post by JWadle » Fri Jun 23, 2006 10:55 am

After sucessfully using the Bluetooth IV software on my T43p for over a year, I had to reinstall it and have been totally unable to complete the install of IBM version 5.0.1.2800. After sucessfully unistalling my pervious version (same version) and installing the software with BT powered off, the Windows driver install triggered by powering the BT on fails consistently - always with the error "driver install failed - unable to find file" (or words to that effect) . The resilt is a red BT icon (no device found). This has happended using every possible metod of driver selection (automatic, search specifed path, pick my own driver).

I am pretty adept at this stuff, but this one has me stumped.

Any suggestions?

Finally I uninstalled the TP BT SW and let Windows XP install its own. Works great - no problems.

I know in the past the Microsoft BT software has been non-standard and feature-lacking, but the current version seems just fine. What am I missing by not using the Broadcomm BT SW from Lenovo?

Thanks.
