Network Problem

#1 Post by montecarlo01ss » Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:32 pm

Just re-installed windows 2000 with the recovery cd for my t21, i cannot for the life of me connect to the internet. it recognizes my adapter card and installed it but it wont work. i try using the ethernet cable into the computer itself but it is only sending packet information it wont receive any. i cant install my lynksys wireless router because it needs internet explorer 5.5 or higher and evidently i dont have it and i cant connect to the internet to download it. ive tried d/l internet explorer onto a disk but every time i try on another computer it wont let me because i already have a newer version.... now i remember why i use windows xp on all my other computers..

I am not sure what your problem could be, but you might look over these two pages. However, before you do anything, try turning off your firewall and make sure any security is turned off on the router and laptop. Either of these two items can prevent a connection. Just make a connection for a test. If it works, then work on checking out your firewall and/or security settings.

EDIT: Also take a look in Device Manager for any yellow exclaimation marks or red X's.
