Roll back from Media Center to anything else...

#1 Post by Red_October_7000 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 10:36 pm

My girlfriend's computer has the blight of existance, Windows XP Media Center edition, on it. Is there any way to roll back to XP or XP pro? If I just put in a disk from one of those will the install work OK, or does it consider Media Center the "highest" edition? If so how can I force it to submit to my will?

I would just quick format the partition and install XP.

She's got stuff on there she wants.
Lots of stuff...
That would work, though. It's a laptop, and a Gateway (Ugh. Back in the days of the 486DX/66 and the early Pentiums, these guys were great. At some point they have become absolute rubbish), so putting drives, etc, would be difficult. Probably can convince her that it's the best way to go, though. Thanks.
