Battery: IBM Power Gauge vs Microsoft Power gauge
Battery: IBM Power Gauge vs Microsoft Power gauge
Hi,
I noticed a difference between the Power Gauge and the Windows readings for my battery time. See here (bottom, right):

Any clue?
Thanks

Both pieces of software are trying to approximate your battery time and the way they are calculating or measuring aint exactly the same.
At least that is just my logical explanation... I must admit I cannot be 100% sure but I don't see what else. I am quite sure that one isn't better than the other.

It's somewhat hard to calculate... so each has their own proprietary formula. For example: how much does the age of the battery impact the battery drain? Is it a strait line or does it curve? How much?
It's ugly stuff... very cool that they can get even as close as they do.
IBM has a slight advantage since they can tweak it for the individual laptop. Microsoft is a bit more generic. So if I had to bet, I'd say the IBM version will be a bit more accurate more of the time.

Hey, its one of the basic laws of the cosmos.... IBM and Microsoft will hardly ever agree on anything!ratoto67 wrote:Power Gauge and the Windows readings
