No sound???

#1 Post by NS » Tue Jul 18, 2006 4:19 am

:-( I had checked my computer in and out and cannot find the reason why it does not produce a sound at all. When i turn off the comp, there is no win XP Pro switch off sound and when i turned on also got no sound. I tried the headset and also got no sound. Both loudspeaker and headset got no sound. I checked my sound card and there is nthing wrong with it, so now what is the problem with this soundless device?

Please help me...

Is this setting correct? http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/5642 ... d01zn2.gif

I was just looking at another forum with a T60 thread, and one respondent claimed that if the modem isn't enabled, it kills the audio. I haven't verified this myself, but it's something for you to look at.

Make sure your sound isn't muted using the shortcut on the keyboard. If you mute sound using that key it doesn't show up in the sound properties.

That's not the right software for the t60. You need to call Lenovo and find out why that version is installed in your t60/.

In addition, the T60 shouldn't be using the SoundMAX Digital Audio device (which can be found in the T4X Thinkpads as well).

The T4X Series use the AD1981B AC'97 Audio controller whilst the T60 uses the AD1981HD HD Audio 1.0 controller. Which *requires* a different driver; it won't work with the AC'97 driver set which generates that *very* control panel for the sound. How did you get it to display that then?

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
