new problem connection to network shares after SP2 upgrade

#1 Post by nikemen » Wed Jul 19, 2006 2:03 pm

So, in the local area network, we have a number of thinkpads, and a couple of regular pcs that act as file servers.

Some of the file servers have now been upgraded to sp2, which is fine for the most part.

But, now when I connect with the thinkpads, and MAP NETWORK DRIVE, the share DOES come up, but instead of the window popping up in like five seconds, it takes about 20 seconds before the window with the drive data shows up.

Is there some connection problem between sp1 and sp2 systems? IS there some authentication overhead that may be occurring?

Is there anything to test, or do to solve the problem and get back to the way it was?

thanks

Both client and server must be at SP2 for file sharing to be fast. If service packs are mismatched between machines, file sharing can be slow. I notice when making a machine it is slow getting data until I get SP2 on it. ... JD Hurst
