Yet ANOTHER bluescreen ::mad::

#1 Post by K. Eng » Fri Aug 13, 2004 7:58 pm

I was doing some work on my ThinkPad a few minutes ago and I got the following BSOD:

Stop: 0x0000008E (some other addresses)
Win32k.sys address BF83B0F8 at BF800000
...
Begining Dump of Physical Memory

:(

This is the third BSOD I've had in the past month!

Great... so I have to get SP2 to fix this???
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

...and then spend 5 years looking for software that works with it...

It's ok, I use it for my print servers but for the machines setup for the public we can't go that way yet, sadly.

As for the BSOD - I had three yesterday, only when I had a webcam connected - I was wondering if this was symptomatic of high USB (webcams REALLY pump the watts) useage...when I disconnected the webcam, no more problems all the evening.
