Slipstream SP2 into your XP install CD...

#1 Post by sickofit » Sun Aug 15, 2004 11:24 am

Thought some people might be interested in this very well explained how-to....I've made up SP Cd's for all my windows CD's since W2K SP1,and its nice to have the newest service pack install automatically when doing a fresh install....I couldn't believe it,no windows updates after the fresh install using this CD,i'm used to having to install like 30 hotfixes after using my old SP1 XP install Cd...!!!!....

Some things I noticed after installing SP2 on my 770X is

1.)Like some other people mentioned, the "Professional" disappears from the windows XP boot up screen...still says it everywhere else within windows, just gone from the boot up screen...

2.)I couldn't get Limewire Pro to connect, even after giving it permission,so I disabled windows firewall and it connects fine...

3.)Couldn't stand the new Security Centre loading from boot up,so I disabled it in services(Should always run SERVICES.MSC to disable services, rather than through admin services)...

Here's a link to the site...also explains how to add your own programs into the Cd,ones you always install after a fresh install, and adding your key in...

I should add, that if you use C: drive, where his says F:,when it comes to the point where you have to run the big long switch, just highlight and copy what he used, paste it RUN and delete the F's and put C's,hit run and you're good to go!!!

Thanks. A set of these CDs belong in every TP owner's emergency tool kit.
