As far as your first question, check out MS's guide to doing so, I have used this on a number of occasions....until I found out that Winkey+M or Winkey+D does the same thing and doesnt take up that space!! Here's the link anyway:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=190355

And to activate the numeric keypad in the keyboard, press Shift+NumLock to toggle it on/off....the numlock light belof the screen panel should light up when its activated...but its pretty obvious if you leave it on when youre typing stuff like "hey h6ws 5t g65ng+" :P

Benz link is good for your problem, but most likely you just need to add a shortcut to that QuickLaunch toolbar from the file 'C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop.scf' or just do a search for file 'Show Desktop.scf'.
Reply us if you need help on doing that.

For using the 'numbers' (NumLk) you first need to press Shift+ScrLk. (Green led with the '1' will turn on)

Words not in color? What words?
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)

because they probably deleted it inadvertently. its just another icon down there with all the rest of them, nothing special really.

First of all, thanks for everyone that responded....

B) I found it much easier to just go to toolbar properties and check the SHOW QUICKLAUNCH box... but im sure your ways works great too...

III. In reference to the color thing i mentioned... i was refering to viewing cached web pages on GOOGLE... on my old machine the search words that i used to begin the search would show up in a color scheme on chached pages... now they show up in BOLD instead.... is there a way to revert back to the old color scheme thingamabob...

thanks again y'all (im a new yorker i just wanted to say y'all)
