HOWTO: Implementation of a bootable UFD-based recovery PE fo

#1 Post by SGD » Wed Aug 23, 2006 11:03 am

Hi,

Do not know where I can comment to the HOWTO item - the howto's part of the forum is locked for comments. I noticed that the howto's author (Chris Wolf) frequently posts in this forum. Thus, I post here; if that is not a right place to go, moderators may direct me to a proper place.

I read the HOWTO item on implementing USB bootable recovery FD. The howto refers to pe2usb script which is part of BartPE. I read the documents accompanying the BartPE. They say, that for the thing to work (loading a CD image into ramdrive - that is the core of pe2usb), one should use setupldr.bin and ramdrive.sys from Windows Server 2003 SP1 release.

The HOWTO suggests to download these files from https://webfiles.berkeley.edu/christoph ... les/srsp1/ . I downloaded the directory and it turned out that the files are from Windows XP SP1.

Thus, my question is: did anybody tried to follow the HOWTO to build a bootable UFD? Successfully? (Chris ?)

Thanks.
