Windows Vista RC1 Build 5728
Windows Vista RC1 Build 5728
Did a clean install last night of the latest Windows Vista Build 5728 on my T43 2686-M4U. I find it a bit more stable than Build 5600. Most of the ThinkVantage software doesn't work still, but I can live without those. The clean install was better compared to upgrading Build 5600.
After the installation, I run Windows Update and almost all of the drivers were available. The only thing that I did install manually was the Winbound TPM drivers. As for the rest, Windows Update did it for me. I also downloaded Trend Micro's Anti Virus BETA which runs in Windows Vista without a glitch.
It rated my system 2.0 due to my Display Adapter. But overall, Im quite happy with the performace...Aero and the visual enhancement enable. The only thing that I upgraded in my system is that I have 1GB of RAM. The rest is factory shipped.

Actually ATIs driver adds only 0.1 point on my T60. But i could see a dramatic improvement on dragging windows and so on. It's more fluently than with Vista out of the box drivers.
The only issue i have is that every time i startup my computer or resume from standby the monitor setup assistant window pops up.

I experienced that on RC1 also, also on Build 5728 for a while. But now I don't experienced it anymore. I'm not too sure while one I did made it go away. Either the Windows Update or when I installed the ATI Vista BETA Catalyst software. Just give it a try. I know how annoying it is.
