New Access Connections update...

OK folks... looks like there's a new update (v3.30) for Access Connections on the IBM site at:

A quick glance at the readme says:
Version 3.30 Support for WindowsXP Service Pack-2
Support for LEAP-TKIP wireless authentication.

installed both AC 3.30 and the new drivers for my WLAN card (2200BG) while at home last night and everything looked good... used my wireless network and so forth. came to work today and i can no longer connect to our wireless AP. im guessing that since it worked before on this same access point, the only thing that changed is the AC and WLAN drivers...

anyone else having any issues?

I see no difference from the way 3.20 behaves in SP2. I have to go into the windows WLAN config every time to allow windows to control wireless before it will actually connect with an access point.

FYI.. i found the problem with mine. corrupted config in the AP.

merlyn.. i've been using acces connections with SP2 for over 2 weeks now with no issues. if you want to use AC then you can't have windows controling your wireless networks.

oook, fresh install of sp2, and I still get problems connecting to my AP? 2nd install today. . . going back to 3.21/old drivers.

There is an 11 a/b/g update for my T41, so I uninstalled Access Connections 3.21, updated the Wireless driver, rebooted, installed Access Connections 3.30 and it all works just fine. Still very new, so a couple more days and clients will give me more experience. ... JDHurst

I can't seem to locate the wireless a/b/g update on IBM's site. The web page and link are there (http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... us&lang=en), but the file doesn't seem to be in the ftp directory. Is it possible they intentionally removed it (maybe due to problems with the update)?

It works, but not at seamlessly as it used to. In order for it to get an IP address once connected to an access point, I have to go into the wireless connection settings for XP then click the box to allow windows to control wireless. Then everything works fine and connects, until I want to reassociate, that is.

wierd.. i disabled the wreless zero config service altogether and mine works flawlessly.

yeah, but when you sartup from a cold boot, does wireless take forever to connect?

no. aside from the 60 seconds or so it takes APS to start up.. that is the only delay.. as soon as AC is loaded in the system tray it connects within seconds.

Are any of you guys getting periodic issues with the wireless? I am getting corrupt wireless packets every once in a while. Specifically, ssh connections will die on occassion with "Invalid MAC in packet". Established RDP connections will periodically die under heavier load with an error about failed encryption verification... or error code 0x1102.

Anyone else seeing this type of behavior?

I think that's the key, disable the service and it seems to work flawlessly.

Funny thing though, when I disable wireless zero and I hit find wireless lan in AC, it doesn't find nearly as many. If I open network stumbler I can find more.

I am having the problem in spades. Can't keep an RDP connection and get corrupt JPEG images much of the time. I don't remember this problem prior to installing the 8.1 drivers for the 2200BG. They were released by IBM on 9-23-04, a week before you made this post. Had you installed those drivers? I am thinking that I'll go back to the 8.0 rev and endure occasional BSODs rather than this.

Have you identified a fix yet?
