Vista's introduction of weird noises to my T60

#1 Post by Badger » Sat Oct 14, 2006 6:54 pm

XP doesn't do either of these things:

When I unplug the AC adapter, my battery (I'm assuming) begins to make a constant, but varying in pitch, high pitch sound.

When I scroll, either with a mouse or the UltraNav, I hear a weird noise that sounds like it's coming from the hard drive. It's very strange, always the same noise, kind of like someone is running their finger down something really fast.

I realize it's a beta. Does anyone else have these problems?

Some people have it even in Windows XP on their Thinkpads; not really a problem, but more of a little issue, most likely with certain pwer management features of the OS, that cause it. It usually does happen on battery as Windows XP as well. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I just went into XP again to test, it did indeed do it but only for 2 to 3 seconds and then it was silent. The scrolling also doesn't make that noise. Pretty weird problem.

The annoying sound when I unplug the AC adapter went away after I installed the ThinkVantage Power Manager and powermanager driver. Cool. 8)

Ahhh I take it back, after spending some time in the library the noise is still there in Vista but not in XP.
