Keyboard customizer for several users

#1 Post by astpaul » Thu Aug 26, 2004 9:18 am

Hi,
I want to allow several users on a single windows machine to be able to use this wonderful utility. This way every user can have access to the Windows key.

I succeeded to install it for one user but the other ones can't use it. The soft says that it is already running under another username.

Did someone succeeded ?

Thks :)

If all you need is the Windows key, I would highly recommend remapping using a registry edit instead. No need to have an application running (that uses 30MB's or ram)

I'm not sure if I am understanding you.
I think you are referring to the Back and Fwd buttons on the thinkpad keyboard near the arrow keys.
IBM's utility/driver called Hotkeys is what controls all the IBM specific buttons and onscreen displays.
The IBM keyboard customization tool is different and separate from hotkeys.

Nevermind ... I understand you now.
Sorry .. lol

You need the IBM keyboard customization utility in order to remap those IBM specific buttons.
Remapping via the registry is only good for the normal keys. I thought you only wanted to remap to get a Windows key.

The IBM keyboard customizer is a very nice utility, from what I saw of it.
But now that you have the desire to customize the thinkpad keys, we are back to the problem of it already running under another username. ;)
