Vista RC2 and internet access issue

#1 Post by btorbik » Sat Oct 21, 2006 5:14 am

I installed RC2 on X60s several weeks ago and until now, have been very happy with its performance. For the past two days I've been unable to access the internet using a wireless or wired connection. The network status indicator doesn't indicate that there are any issues, but does state that the connection is "Access" Loca only".

This is very frustrating as I made no changes to the X60s and didn't install any new software. I've rebooted several times, uninstalled the wireless adapter and added it back, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciate so that I can get back online.

Try right clicking it and hitting diagnose. Apparently vista doesn't always get a new IP address when connecting to a new network. It tries to keep the last one it got previously and that can cause problems.
