I'm using a mini pci a/b/g adapter for internet connections. For some reason a icon appears in my taskbar with a red X indicating that the ethernet network cable is unplugged. How do I remove the icon?
I have the "show icon" box unchecked under network connections for the local area cable connection.
local area connection icon in taskbar
This is purely a Windows thing.
That always has annoyed me a little, too. That option "show icon in taskbar when connected" doesn't change the fact that the icon is displayed when not connected.
You have to disable the ethernet Local Area Connection in order to get rid of the icon. There may be some registry edit, but I thought I had searched for one with no luck.
