Restoring XP with the Recovery CDs.

#1 Post by BoomAM » Tue Nov 14, 2006 3:09 pm

Hi.
Does anyone know if its possible to use the recovery CDs to restore XP to a custom partition setup?

Ages ago i nuked my HDD, so now its setup with 20Gb for Linux, 30Gb Storage, and 40Gb for (at the time) Vista.

I want XP to be put on the 40Gb partition, but afaik, the restore CDs will nuke the entire HDD and start afresh.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance all. :)

I am pretty sure something like that is, where you only resotre selected partitions, is possible through the HPA, but I am not so sure as to the options you have with the disk set.

Do you still have the HPA entact?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

You cannot select a custom partition to restore when you use recovery CDs.
