How to edit the Minimum Password length(which is readonly)

#1 Post by lenovouser » Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:59 pm

Hi there,

I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 and having the following issues. After a fresh image I perform the following

1. Start-> Run-> secpol.msc
2. Go to Account Policies->Password Policy->Minimum Password Length is set to 8 Characters.

The issue is after connecting to my office LAN it gets changed to 7
and also it changes to read-only where I am unable to edit the value.

Would appreciate if you can help by telling me how I can make to change to 8 characters?

Thanks in advance.

If you're joined to a domain on your office LAN then domain policies will override local machine policies. Talk to your domain admins. Maybe they can be convinced to change their policy.
