"WindowsXP Professional" display gone

#1 Post by c888a » Sun Sep 05, 2004 12:25 am

After SP2 upgrade, the original display "WindowsXP Professional" during the bootime is now replaced with "WindownsXP", the word "Professional" simply disappears. :( How do I get it back?

The year range on the Microsoft copyright is gone too :P

I'm sure you can just replace the post-Sp2 boot screen with the original one. Maybe someone here who hasn't upgraded can send it to you...

does this mean that home and pro features are now harmonized?

I'll send you my original Windows XP Professional boot-up screen. One catch though: you need to tell me where it is located on my HD  I've never bothered reading up on boot screen mods.

It's a dumb change, but it *definitely* does not mean Home and Pro are harmonized. Home still has home-only networking and crippled filesharing. ... JDHurst

I noticed this also when I installed SP2, but I don't care since it doesn't affect the functionality of the OS. I don't know why MSFT made this change :o

Btw - this topic belongs in the Windows forum since it isn't specific to the T series AFAIK.

I noticed the XP version change as well. I installed SP2 on my home systems (running XP Media centre), however have not installed it on my laptop which runs professional. As I use my laptop for all my school work I think I'll leave well enough alone for now anyway...
