Access connection issue

#1 Post by bebzif » Tue Dec 12, 2006 5:34 am

Hi all --

I made some researches but I didn't find any answer to that already.
I have a t42p 2373hvu -- all thinkvantage sw updated. AC v4.21. Win XP sp2.

Problem is related to saved ports. Some of my connections are not showing in the popup when AC detects an unknown port. And some ports are wrongly associated to connections. All of this seems to be crappy in fact. I've seen some comments in other threads saying it's a problem, but no real answer or solution to that issue.

Can any advise ? That AC stuff works pretty well, but it useless when coming to wired connections ...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Bertrand

AC doesn't allow saved ports for wired connections that have fixed IP addresses, only DHCP ones. It may have other restrictions as well, but this is the main one that affects me. Could this be the issue for you?

Mhhh you seem to be right, looks like all my static IP profiles are not associated to any port. That really sucks. Is there any reason for that, or is it just a bug ?

Doesn't each static IP setup require a new profile? The port settings all have the same profile (e.g., a vanilla default DHCP profile). Changing the port doesn't change the IP, ergo, a new profile is required. That is how is works for me (although I have exceedingly limited static IP requirements). ... JD Hurst

Sure they do. Problem is AC will never let you assign a port to a profile with static IP address :(
