My T60p keeps blue screening while trying to install those drivers. It throws up the file swmx00.sys as the problem...any ideas?

No, sorry, I've got a conference on Sunday I'm preparing for. I'll ask after the weekend if you are still having trouble.

You have the built-in Verizon EVDO?

BadAndy,
See my post "How To: Verizon EV-DO Sierra Wireless MC5720 WWAN Drivers" http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=34787

It contains a tested method for getting the MC5720 Verizon EV-DO Drivers working on Windows Vista. Something that I have not yet tested but may work is using the drivers from my How To, along with the version of VZAccess posted here by dfumento. Note that using my How To, VZAccess is not required, but if this version does work it would enable SMS and viewing signal strength.

Drivers seem to work well!

#5 Post by dlubin » Sat Dec 16, 2006 8:47 am

I succesfully installed the drivers, activated my wwan card, and connected a bunch of times.

Only issue I had was leftover registry entries from all of the differtent attempts to install other drivers to get the card to work. My solution was to scan the registry for MC5720 and delete as many keys as I could. Once I did that I was able to install the drivers, the VZaccess program, and were ready to go.

The vzaccess program had trouble powering on the modem until I manually turned the hardware wireless switch on/off.

Now I just need my biometric to work and I'm in good shape!

Thanks

Dan

I guess I just missed these drivers. Could anyone repost them or email them to me. I will be glad to give them a home on my website until the full relasease version of the drivers are out.

Thanks,
Scott

Anyone else having any troubles with these drivers? I get disconnected after 5-10 minutes randomly. Also they don't seem to come back properly after a sleep. This is fixed by turning the connection on and off, but this is highly annoying.

Hmmm. I just installed Vista Ultimate RTM on my T60p and downloaded all the files and software mentioned in all the threads and no matter where I point the driver update to, it can't find the driver for the WWAN card. Every directory where I've extracted the files to I've pointed to says there is no driver available, and my MC5720 Modem won't accept any of the drivers listed. Anyone have any ideas or provide the name of the files I should be looking for? I've ran the .msi file so many times it's not funny!

I think you need to show it the C:\Program Files\Sierra Wireless\MC5720\AC\USBMUX_DRIVERS directory. (I could be wrong about this though).

Yeah, I did that. In fact I tried every directory I could and each time it said Windows could not find a driver. Verizon access and Access connections both loaded, but I can't figure out why it won't pick up anything. Anyone know the exact file(s) it needs to install the driver?

I think the trick isn't to specify just the directory. There is a way to go through and install a specific driver (i.e. .INF file) when you install the device. If I recall correctly its something like
1. browse my computer for drivers
2. let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
3. Have Disk
4. Select appropriate .INF file in the driver directory

Thanks. I am well versed in the driver update procedure, but I don't see a single .inf file in the directories that others have reference even after running the .msi files. Where do these files extract to? Which .inf file should I be looking for? Anyone?

Hmmm, looking through my c:\drivers directory - do you have any setup program in C:\drivers\WIN\WWANSR\driver ? That might have been where the initial program extracted to.

Yes, I have the directory and tried to point windows to that directory too to no avail. Anyone know the exact name of the inf file I am looking for?

I thought that in that directory I think there is a second setup program that you need to run. And that installs the drivers in the program files directory... maybe I'm completely wrong though.
