all i could find was info that the real ones would be out in Jan but nothing else. i have the 5 or so std drivers installed from the web but if anyone had any updates it would be great. I called and even asked insiders at Lenovo and got nowhere. think they want to do only internal testing so nothing gets out and messes things up.

Have you committed to Vista? There is so much wrong with it right now that upgrading to it is pointless. Based on incoming upgrades for me, it will be June at the earliest before a business person could use it in a production environment. ... JD Hurst

Vista Committed to it ?

Hi. I have a 200793u T60p. We are a tech company mfg product that needs to be tested on Vista so we have no choice but to see how it works. I have purchased a 2nd 7200rpm 100gb sata drive for Vista build. Right now I keep my XP build up to date with patches but use exclusively the vista build. I am also testing office 2007 and they have done a nice job on compatibility with older versions, it really works and you can just run in compt mode and not use any new features but get use to the ribbons etc. also it warns you if you use a feature and try and save it. MS also put out a tool that will allow older XP 03 office to save files in XML format (.docX,.XLSx,.PPTx etc).
For business we use office (07 on my vista) and lotus notes 6.5.5 seems to work well, sav (got the vista version) and pcanywhere (12.02 complains but does run). in addition i have msn, yahoo, google talk, skype and aol msgrs), the 2003 admin tools for active directory work as well as Baan our erp package, paperport and image retriever we use for our xerox scanning. also adobe reader 8 and full 7 work.

All that said we won't do a major release right away and won't even purchase machines with it until much later. we are getting the cupons to upgrade later (this runs to march). after march we will have to see what has changed by then.

Since I keep all my data in one place regardless of login (i move the mydocuments folder in each login to point to 1 directory). i can easily move my entire documents folder around btween builds.

That's really interesting.

Just one question. You are talking about the Windows 2003 Server Admin Tool, right (adminpak.msi) right? I'm curious if they all work under vista and afraid installing them on my tp.

Do they really work?

Hi.. Yes the install worked fine no issues. I don't use all of the tools but I do use the AD Computers and Users a lot and it works without issue.

We also use MS VPN and noticed that it doesn't work as in XP where you can setup so that all internet traffic is via works network. We had to in test mode turn it on using split tunnelling by turning off the gateway check box.

I would like the opportunity to share info on experiences with vista on TP.

on the non business side I also installed money 07, winamp, itunes with quicktime, icq5, logitech's webcam software (they released a vista version already!), firefox browser.

I am having trouble getting a HP5370 scanner to scan and I am anxiously waiting for ghost so i can image my system. I tried the MS backup tool but i get problems. I use an internal PATA drive in the cd/dvd bay and it backups fine but then it doesn't think it is there to restore even after it shows you that it does exist on drive d.. very odd
