how to fresh/oem install on an x60s? sos!

#1 Post by jamse » Tue Dec 19, 2006 5:01 pm

alright i cant figure out how to install a "fresh" copy of xp pro on my new x60s. reason is i do not want all the preloaded junk that comes with it. i am assuming i can do it with a cd and an external cd drive, but i do not have one. what i do have is a usb drive. i tried installing by this method --> http://www.vandomburg.net/articles/2006 ... p-from-usb this however keeps on telling me that the product key is invalid, i thought it was b/c i had the corporate image so i downloaded 3 other iso's that werent corporate but had no luck there kept on saying invalid (im thinking they were corporate, thought one came with a pic of an oem cd). i tried just copying the image to the usb and then running it, but no luck there.

i am almost 100% sure i can use my cd key with an oem cd to install, but i could be wrong.

any thoughts would be nice :D

Check your C:\
There is a directory called i386, it contains the windows install file.
You can download BartPE. I use it and the i386 directory to create a windows install CD.
