Anyone tried Vista on the T60 yet?

#1 Post by robweg » Sun Dec 24, 2006 6:57 am

I installed Vista Ulimate (Final) on my new T60. Most things work fine out of the box, but i got a problem when i tried to install the ati catalyst driver package for vista from the lenove site.
During the installation the installer checks the hardware and then i get an error telling me there would be no applicable hardware found.
Really strange, because the automatically installed Microsoft driver lists the hardware correctly as Ati 1400.
Anyone experienced this problem and solved it?

I havent tried to contact lenovo yet, because the german hotline is only available on workdays.

cheers, rob

I tried RC2 on my T60 without ATI and everything worked fine.

There is a Windows VISTA forum here for Vista support and opinions. Vista questions and comments belong there. You will find related posts to your question there already.

That's the same problem which i had with lenovos ATI drivers. I figured out that the driver lenovo provides actually is the ATI beta driver which was released for vista RC1. So a litte outdated.

You have two choices:

1. For the moment stick with the ms preinstalled driver (which i'm currently using without problems, you get even a newer version thru windows update)

2. Download ATIs beta drivers for vista from their website. But be aware that these are beta drivers i experienced some instabilities compared the the ms default driver.

I would suggest you to stick with vistas default video driver and wait some time until ATI will release final packages for video.
