Access connections 4.21 : profiles not copied from previous

#1 Post by simonbrew » Wed Dec 27, 2006 6:12 am

I've just used System Update 2 to update all my IBM drivers and utility software etc. Access Connections was one of many upgrades which were automatically selected, in my case from v3.3 to v4.21.

When the whole update had finished, I found that the new AC v4.21 appeared to be successfully installed, though the wireless connection did not open automatically. However, the first time I launched AC I got a blue DOS screen saying that a serious error had occurred, and the system re-booted.
On restart, XP asked me to send a report of the serious error, which I couldn't do because wireless LAN wasn't working.

The next AC launch worked OK except that I found I didn't have any location profiles, so I didn't have any network connection. Rather than re-create all my location profiles, I used XP System Restore to go back to a previous restore point, and then launched (the old) AC v3.3 and exported all the location profiles.
I then undid the restoration, re-launched AC (now v4.21 again), and was able to import the profiles I had just exported. So everything is now working OK on AC v4.21.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?
