DVD Not Working on T60p

#1 Post by bwillhite » Wed Dec 27, 2006 4:28 pm

Hello,

I am running Vista Ultimate (release) on a T60p 2007-94U, everything works well, except the DVD burner! It is the LG GSA-4083N. Device Manager says it can't load the driver.

Is anyone else having trouble with this device?

Thanks

Brian

Brian,

Try installing the Sonic DLA, Version 5.1.0.

Rather than Sonic DLA, I would think Sonic RecordNow would be a better choice. DLA is drive letter access for packet writing to an optical disk. DLA has been known to cause it's own problems from time to time. RecordNow should have the drivers needed to record DVD's. Of course if you want packet writing capabilities, install DLA.

Here are the drivers needed from Sonic:

cdrom.sys
DLACDBHM.SYS
DRVMCDB.SYS
pxhelp20.sys
ThinkPad T60p 2.16GHz/2GB,15"UXGA,DVD-RW,100GB,3945abg

After searching, I see that the software is labeled a bit differently for the T6x series than for the T4x series. Here I believe is what you need.

MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings

If the installation program will not work, you should still be able to download and execute (double-click on) the file bs09az00ibm.exe to extract it's contents then cancel the setup wizard after the files are extracted. Notice where the files are extracted to, then in device manager choose to update driver for the problem device and point to the above directory.

No luck, the extracted files are in a password protected zip file!

GRRR!!!

Anyone else having trouble with the DVD drive?

Later

Brian
