Windows Vista AERO Display on t-43p

#1 Post by budd0413 » Wed Jan 03, 2007 10:48 pm

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the new "AERO" display feature to work on the t-43p with the Mobility X300 video card?

I assume it should work fine. Given that my T42P is running perfectly with AERO enabled...

I guess the OP is asking whether the Aero feature is loaded automatically or needs to be activated manually.

Installed Windows Vista RC2 before on my T43 (2686) with the same GPU as yours, Aero was automatically enabled, at that time I only had 1GB of RAM.

What's the screen resolution of the T43 that you're using? Is Aero running well on it? Can you open more than 7 windows with Aero enabled?

I also have a T43 with an X300 (2686 M5U) however I heard it would be fine for Aero if you have a XGA screen (1024*768) but not a SXGA one (1400*1050) because 128mb video memory is needed (for resolutions from 1024*768 to 1900*something).

I doubt it because my X300 has only 64mb of video memory itself but it actually borrows some system memory(256vram in total). I wonder if an Intel GMA950 with 1gb of ram is qualified for Aero(1), then why not an X300 with 1.5gb of ram?
