IE "Runtime Error 217"

#1 Post by akhavan » Fri Jan 05, 2007 10:49 am

Hi,

I have been using IE since it came out without any problem. However, for the past couple of days I'm getting Runtime error 217 when I close it.

I googled and saw a lot of other people are having the same problem. But there was no answer on how to resolve it. I uninstalled IE and ran two registry cleaners. I then reinstalled it and still am getting the same error.

Anybody here has any idea how to resolve this short of telling me to use another browser?

Thanks

Sepehr

Edit. It only happens when I'm using Tab browsing

Read the last post in this thread. The user reported that the problem stemmed from leftovers from a Norton AV uninstall. He ran Symantec's removal tool and had success.

GomJabbar,

Thanks for the link. Checked it but I don't think it will resolve my case. I had NAV2006 when I installed IE7 and then look around for something else but at the end upgraded to NAV2007. Both versions had no effect on my IE7.

The only way I could fix it was turning off the "Tab" function.

Ok tried Opera didn't like it very much. Now I'm using FireFox. No problem so far except Opera was faster.
