I have the same wireless Atheros ABGN card with the same question. I want to install Vista, but I don't see a driver for the wireless card on the Lenovo website. If I install vista, will the wireless work? Does Microsoft have a driver that will work with it?

Read the sticky about Vista Drivers at the beginning of this Vista forum for your answer. I too have the Atheros a/b/g/n and I am running Vista Ultimate typing to you through that wireless connection.

Atheros a/b/g/n == ThinkPad Wireless a/b/g/n
You need to use the drivers from Lenovo marked for the ThinkPad wireless (a/b/g/n). This is the same as the Atheros card. The ThinkPad wireless is Lenovo's marketing name for the Atheros chipset. The drivers are available on the Lenovo website...
Re: Atheros a/b/g/n == ThinkPad Wireless a/b/g/n
There are no Vista for the Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n available. Check the link for Vista drivers in my posting http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=37125 and you will see. That is why you need to use the ones Windows provides with Windows update. These drivers do work because I have been using them.ghosh9691 wrote:You need to use the drivers from Lenovo marked for the ThinkPad wireless (a/b/g/n). This is the same as the Atheros card. Thanks. That is all I wanted to know. I just didn't want to install Vista this weekend and then have to uninstall it because there weren't drivers available.dfumento wrote:Read the sticky about Vista Drivers at the beginning of this Vista forum for your answer. You don't wish you had the Intel card installed - the Atheros card is far superior, my only complaint about it is that it is hard to get the specs I want with that card installed as the waste majority of systems have the Intel card due to Intel's marketing might.
I know that Lenovo had intended to launch the driver on the 30 Jan with the others but there have been various issues with this driver which they are trying to resolve; I understand the situation is not ideal but they will release their own driver soon and I think it is actually a testiment to the quality testing that Lenovo do before releasing; i'm sure you would rather wait a couple of weeks for a stable driver than them releasing a buggy one just to have released one.

Yes, all the atheros cards are superior to their Intel equivalents you may not notice any problems if your using some basic security and you have a good network setup but for the more complex security setups the Intel card is much more flaky, the atheros cards tend just to work as intended and generally have better connections.Lacos wrote:Why is the Atheros Card superior? Ok it hat the 802.11n Standard build inside, but i dont care.. Are there any advantages compared to intel?
