X61s with 32GB Mtron SSD
SSD is super fast (seek time)
FYI I've applied Vista SP1 already, All running good except Sleep and hibernate (System sometimes crash when wake up from Sleep or hibernate) however due to the Fast Boot time (35s) on SSD, it's not that annoying.

I just installed Vista Home Pre on the girlfriends T41.(2373-W46)
This is what i got.
processor 3.2 ---------Intel P-M 1.5Ghz(1 meg cache)
Ram 4.1 ---------- 1.5gig DDR 333
Graphics 1.9 ----------ATI Radeon 9000 32meg
Gameing 1.0 --------- 32 meg ATI Radeon 9000
HDD 4.4 ---------- 40 gig 5400 rpm
Over all it's not bad.The system is not slow at all.Very useable.
I may look at buying a faster CPU if a good deal shows up (hint , hint)...And maybe a bigger hard drive.
But for not the T-41 run's Vista nice.Alot better then i thought it would...

Scores for my newly acquired HP nw8240:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.13GHz 4.0
Memory: (RAM) 2.00 GB 4.4
Graphics: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5000 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) 4.3
Gaming graphics: 891 MB Total available graphics memory 4.3
Primary hard disk: 20GB Free (56GB Total) 4.4
EDIT: I ran the test again today (with a Readyboost compatible USB drive) and the Memory and graphics scores shot up to 5.9. Probably some sort of strange glitch, I'm guessing, because even with Readyboost I can't imagine that this GPU would rank so highly.

Vista aero needs (i belve) a graphics score of 3.0 or better to work. And lot's of video ram.
The ATI 7500 32 meg just wont do it no matter what driver you use.

The official system requirement for Vista Aero are:
1GHz processor speed
1GB system memory
128MB video memory
10Hz refresh rate
32 bit color depth setting
and few other minor details
According to ThinkWiki, T41's Mobility Radeon 7500 has 32MB of video memory. Unfortunately, it does not meet the 128MB requirement, therefore Aero will not run.

I'll bite:
Processor: 4.7 T2400 Core Duo 1.83GHz
Memory: 4.5 (1.5GB DDR2)
Graphics: 3.0 (Intel 945)
Gaming Graphics: 3.0 (Intel 945)
Hard Disk: 4.7 (Stock 100GB 5400RPM HD)
Vista is pretty springy on this setup. I use the machine for work purposes mainly consisting of remote desktop support, document creation (quotes and whatnot), network administration and some light pre-press work in CS3.
Wonder what it will feel like with a full 3GB of RAM and a 7200RPM Hard Disk.

I'm building my T61p for my brother, and have begun to test my new W700 now as well.
For specs, see sig, but instead of solid state drive, I was using the preload, cloned to a Seagate Momentus 7200.1 7200rpm 100GB drive. No Vista x64 or Lenovo driver updates were done yet.
The results are promising (DDR3 does apparently make a difference), and note that 5.9 is currently the highest possible score:
http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windo ... 58117.aspx
Here's my preliminary, one-run-only results, from Oct 21 2008:
Processor: 5.9
Memory (RAM): 5.8
Graphics: 5.9
Gaming Graphics: 5.8
Hard Disk: 5.0
Overall (determined by lowest score): 5.0
Here's a screenshot as well:
http://picasaweb.google.com/tinkererguy ... 3996838226
Will try again off of an SSD drive when I can. And will be sure to clean xml files away between runs and see if I get consistent results too. See my post on Jan 23rd 9:56pm here:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=90
that said:
"I made a copy of this folder
C:\windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore
then deleted all the xml files in that folder. When going to test performance, it indicated that it hadn't been run before, a good sign. Bingo, you were right, my score of 5.8 was a one-off fluke, not repeatable. Since it doesn't go backwards without deleting the XML"

Saberx, something to consider. If you're able to put an Intel 80GB solid state drive into your IPS equipped laptop, you'll be booting/working dramatically faster too, somewhat affordably ($650ish). But you'd need to fill that UltraBay with a big HDD for D: drive too, since I suspect 80GB is too small to be your only storage.
From your sig, I noticed you have that IPS panel, which is a superior screen with amazing viewing angles: enjoy it!
I fully realize just how fortunate I am. For me, this W700 is a both a tool I make my living with, and a toy I like to "tinker" with.
