Installed vista, thinkpad software all works perfectly.

#1 Post by andy6387 » Fri Feb 02, 2007 3:27 am

Got around to installing vista business tonight through MSDNAA at my college. I started with a clean install, i then went to the lenovo driver downloads and was able to select windows vista. I downloaded everything for my system (make sure you get 32 bit if necessary, and not 64 bit etc). I downloaded all the files at once and then went through the process of extracting them to the default locations (C:\DRIVERS\*). once that is done, i tried to run system update. It let me download the Thinkvantage help and that was it.

I did some searching on the thinkpad website and found the software installer program. It says on the website that they are phasing it out for system update, but it seems they haven't made enough progress to get everything working. You can get the software installer at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OFT-UPDATE . I installed that and it went ahead and installed everything perfectly. after software installer was done i installed RnR and CSS8.

I know this is a little vague, but if anyone has any problems, i'll see what i can do to help.

My system is a T60p, model 2623DDU.

I am able to logon via the finger print reader. *everything* works 8)

EDIT: looks like i spoke too soon. i'm not getting enrolled with CSS and i'm gonna see what i can figure out. :(

interesting that system update would get your fp reader working, checked on the t60 drivers page (http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.ws ... MIGR-62928) and theres no vista driver for the fp software..??

Driver List for X60. This list is more up-to-date and easier to use than using the driver matrix.

As of this writing, this vista version Presentation Director Vista Version 3.01 is not on the driver download list above or on the driver matrix.

Does this include the Presentation Director ThinkVantage software? (the one that lets you quickly change monitor settings/profiles)

No, that one I had to search for and I edited my original note to add the link.

Oh, nice. Presentation Director works for me, but Fn+F7 doesn't bring up the display profile selector, even though it's set to in the settings. It just scrolls through display types. :(
