Vista Power Manager on T42

#1 Post by wordup48 » Fri Feb 02, 2007 8:27 pm

I have a wierd problem with the power manager software in vista. I just downloaded it and it installed fine with no problems.

However, the display of the battery on the taskbar is pretty poor. I know that it should be green with black letters, but mine is white with VERY faint light green lettering.

So last night I decide to re-run Vista Experience Index thing. Sometime duting the course of it doing its thing, the display changed to the proper green battery/black text. However, before it had fully finished doing its index test, it was back to the old white battery/faint green % reading (see screenshot below).

Is this a bug with the driver perhaps? I have tried a few reboots and have tried closing and reopening the program to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

I have noticed too. However, when I change wallpapers to a daker color, the normal green color is back.

I noticed this as well, and finally figured out that the taskbar is transparent, so that the desktop wallpaper is affecting the colour of the battery indicator. Try changing the desktop colour to black and you will see the battery revert to its correct colour! I am not sure how to turn off transparency for the taskbar, but I am sure there is a registry setting for it somewhere.

Explaining the other effects (eg when running the index test), the explanation is simple. Vista temporarily turns off the transparency. I think if you turn off Aero you'll see a similar effect.

Yep it's inheriting the transparency from Aero. Without Aero it looks fine; it also looks fine when you maximise a window.

I hope this will be fixed in a future update. I think there are still a few bugs with the new IBM Vista drivers/softwares

If you change power scheme i think it should turn the darker green to desire.

Has this been fixed yet? It seems to be green when I have an app in window mode, put when I minimise to the taskbar and just show the desktop it goes that funny colour.

Thanks

Mike.

I dont think it has been fixed yet. I just decided to turn off the battery meter and I now use one on my sidebar. You can find it here: http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail. ... &bt=1&pl=1

I cant seem to get the battery meter to come up on my Vista load. I have a T42 that I did a fresh install of Vista ultimate on. The meter is not there, but my load at work on a T43 with Vista enterprise works fine. Could it be the ultimate version?

It may just not be enabled.

Go into power manager and click on options and check the box that says to show the power manager gauge in the taskbar.

That should do it for ya.
