Messed up my Thinkpad, thinkvantage button after Vista?

#1 Post by Bobdare » Mon Feb 05, 2007 4:07 pm

I installed Vista Ultimate Upgrade on my Thinkpad. I got this off a friend of mine from his office. Turned out to have an invalid key! It won't even login, I'm through with it now. I want to go back to XP. I restart, hit thinkvantage and all I can do is go to the bios screen.
How do I reformat XP from there?

Thanks

you need a rescue and recovery cd to load and install the service partition on your hd. you could also try installing it without inserting a key. you'll be able to log in, but you'll only be able to try it for 30 days.

So you mean that I lost any use of the thinkvantage button?

You need your r&r boot disk so you can get into the rescue environment and reinstall the factory preinstalled os.

Another option is to use the lenovo master boot repair disk you can get from this site:
