"ATI radeon" drivers through windows update

#1 Post by skanky » Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:01 pm

i wanted to see what vista was like on my x31 :) so i installed from cd and used cd key and didnt activate it during install so i get to test it out without activating.

i noticed that windows update had pulled some video drivers down and the video card was listed as "ATI radeon drivers" or thereabouts and not "Standard VGA adapter"

since that time i wiped it a few times and now windows update isnt automatically picking up the driver :/

anyone have any ideas?

I went through the same process.
It has 1GB RAM and a 5400rpm drive. XP absolutely screams on it. I'm not looking to support Aero, but just lower-end 3D support would be fine for me. I get Standard VGA too, but never had the ATI option. Every driver I have found doesn't find my chipset either. If you find a source for a working driver, please share.
