Access Connections 4.31 - Argh!
After installing Vista Business, everything is working great, even the hard to find Presentation Director for Vista... except Access Connections 4.31.
Whenever I try to add a profile (wired or wireless), the program crashes. I can however import old profiles and edit them with success.
Faulting application ACMainGUI.exe, version 4.3.1.0, time stamp 0x45b589b1, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000af1c9, process id 0xc68, application start time 0x01c74c99260a6f61.
Anyone else experiencing this or have any clues?

Solution?
In my opinion, reinstalling the OS, Applications and then Access Connections isn't a solution... My workaround for now is creating many "spare" profiles in the registry until Lenovo can re-issue new code or an alternate solution arises.

Re: Solution?
Or you may try to un-install AC with profiles and wireless drivers, reboot and install them back. This may help - this pair of software pieces is extremely buggy.

It works fine for me with creating new profiles on a T41.turkington wrote:Whenever I try to add a profile (wired or wireless), the program crashes.

Sorry So Long
I don't have Vista but I am experiencing the same problem as well as slow boots when using Access Connections 4.32 (previously I had 4.20 and also had the same problem). I have had this laptop for roughly 3 weeks and at this point I am not pleased with it.
I did a complete restore on 3/31 because access connections was taking such a long time to boot (anywhere from 3-5 minutes). It was also taking a long time to shut down. I was getting error messages about ACMainGUI and AcSvc. After the reinstall it was till taking longer than I expected it would and at times I was still gettting the ACMainGUI and AcSvc messages when powering down. I was also unable to connect wirelessly when on battery. I am guessing power management issue. Last night after powering up on Aca and lated diconencting to go on battery and move roughly 50 feet from the router I lost the connection. I cliked on the AC icon in hte taskbar and every icon on my screen as well as the battery icon and every icon in the taskbar began to flash. The system was very unstable so I powered down. This AM I decided to do another restore since I do not find that the system works as a new system should. This time I did not install AC but used the windows wirelss to manage connections. Boot up time went to 40-45 seconds and power down was very fast. I tried this 3-4 times and was able to work off battery at 50 feet from router so decided to install AC just to see what would happen. Boot time went back up to 2 minutes and power down and restart can take up to 5 minutes. I enabled error logging on my wireless card (Atheros n) and this is what I get:

This is only a small part of the log which was created after only three boots. I am using Win XP Pro and have 2GB ram so I do not think boot up and power down should be so long. I am beginning to think that the restore partition was corrupt from the factory.
Does anybody have a solution?

why use AC in the first place?
Why do you use AC at all? I think the Windows manager is quite capable of handling all profiles without any hassle. I have never needed AC, and I have several profiles for three or four different places (work, home, university, etc.).

Access Connection 4.23 is here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZLNJB
4.31 is for Vista. I am using XP Pro.
I do not use the windows connection becasue I was unable to get a signal when 60+ feet away. I installed AC and changed some power manangement settings (in AC) and I am able to get a very good signal quite far away from my router. My house is full of foil backed foam insulation too.
If AC decides it wants to go belly up I will probably try the Atheros Client Utility, but for now its AC. For me it truly came down to changing power settings. My wirelss would shut down to save power.
