AC and Vista? is it working well?

#1 Post by buddypad » Sun Feb 11, 2007 6:01 am

Hello! I'm thinking about using the AC or not with my Vista?! Of course there is the advantage, that AC auto-detects, of there is a cable plugged or not and switches the WiFi on or off - depends on the connection.

But Vista is also doing a good job with managing the connections with different profiles.

Now my question. Does someone of you has problems in using the AC with Vista together - especially while changing schemes/profiles because of different working areas? I mean, does Vista also want to make a new profile, when you go to a new area - or does AC manage it? Hope you understand what I mean?? Another point is the Network-security and sharing of files and data - there is a security option inside of the AC - but does it overwrite the vista-settings - or do I have to set them up too?

I have problems with Speedstep, also a glitch with Hibernation that made my screen black at start up. Each time to get in the desktop have to go in cmd and type in Explorer. Some minor problems too with Wi Fi.

Perhaps it's just me, but when I read your post I was thinking of 'AC' as in the stuff in the walls, that powers your IBM and not as Access Connections. Even reading your first sentence left me believing we where still talking about the same 'AC'

Just a thought...

I haven't had the opportunity to test this thoroughly (and probably wont for a while), however, I have set up a few profiles on a T41 running Vista and AC and it seems that once AC is installed it is the only thing that attempts to manage connections.

Cheers,

Bill

No problems here, moving between workplace domain, home non-domain and Verizon WAN profiles.
