Bluetooth aggravation

#1 Post by jsteele » Sun Feb 11, 2007 7:32 pm

I am unable to reinstall the IBM Bluetooth package. This started when I found that all the network icons were missing from the Netwrok Connections folder. All of the tricks i tried from Microsoft KB were unsucessful in recovering the icons so I ended up removing all of the network adapters in the hardware manager. Restarting and reinstalling the drivers successfully recovered my WLAN and LAN icons.

Now I am trying to reinstall the XP Bluetooth package from the Lenovo site and I keep getting this error message:

There was a problem installing this hardware
USB Device
An error occured during the installation of the device

The driver installation for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

I have removed and tried to reinstall the driver package several times and each ends with the same error.

I am now completely frustrated as I had simialr problems tow years ago trying to install the package in the first place.

Problem appears to be corrected. I right clicked on the BlueTooth Radio in Device Manager and then Update Driver. When it asked I selected Install from a list. It turns out that I had an earlier unsigned driver version still on the system so rather than use the latest version I selected this one and it installed just fine --- everything is back up and working.
