Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768-36U) Sound and Bluetooth

#1 Post by bpiotrowski » Tue Feb 13, 2007 1:49 pm

Hi All,

I just finished installing Vista last night. It was pretty flawless. EXCEPT - much like a lot of the people on the site, I have no sound.

Vista did install a "high definition driver (SPDIF)" device, but alas, it doesn't put out any sound through the speakers. I did download the "Vista" drivers from Lenovo, but I ran into a couple of issues. First, when I tried to update the driver, it told me the Windows driver was newer, and wouldn't let me. I uninstalled the MS driver and then installed the Realtek drivers under the "install legacy device". However, when I started to install, I got BSODed and had to revert back.

I tried the XP drivers, but the system detects they are for a different OS and stops the install.

Any other ideas?

The only other driver I see missing is for my Bluetooth interface. Are there compatible drivers for my laptop model that might work?

Thanks!

Brian.

I would recommend installing the XP sound drivers in compatibility mode and see what happens.

As for bluetooth drivers, visit Broadcoms website and download the latest software (http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php), it's far superior to the crap you get by default on Vista. When installing it, you may get LOTS of prompts as it tries to install individual components, plus it may seem to be doing nothing for ages. But bear with it, it will install successfully eventually. Good luck!

Thanks for the response!

As per your suggestions, I added the XP drivers and the Bluetooth device. Everything now works!

Thanks again!

Brian.
