Configuration Utility?

#2 Post by wpwood3 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 7:34 pm

I'm in the process of upgrading my T60 from XP Pro to Vista Business. Most everything seems to be available except the Configuration Utility.
What are others doing to handle that? Is there a workaround?

config

i have found nothing on the config and nothing on record now or the dvd softwares that came with the original xp build. i am getting a demo of the vista build and will post what is in that. some drivers have been released several times to fix issues, yet no mention of the config utility which is useful to change things in bios and to get serial / model numbers..

Do you know if the new Thinkpads with Vista preloaded have a Configuration Utility?

So here we are, a year after this thread was originally started and still no Configuration utility? I'm guessing there isn't going to be one? If not, that's really too bad, as that utility provided some useful functionality, as well as interesting info.
I assume the one for XP just won't work under vista, right?

It depends on what you actually use the ThinkPad Configuration utility for!

I mostly used it for battery information, which is now available in Power Manager.

There is a MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows Vista available which can be downloaded from the Lenovo support site..... but it will only install on specific, recent ThinkPad models and only then if the ThinkPad has a DVD/CD burner installed, which is somehow related to licencing. :??:

Anyway, if you have an appropriate ThinkPad model and burner, it installs whatever Roxio calls the "Sonic" suite nowadays.

Its probably not going to be of any use to you but you can take a look here.... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68589
