why does CCC.EXE hang on shutdown?

t60, x1400 gfx card.

when i shutdown my vista machine, CCC.EXE stops it from shutting down eventually popping up a dialog box asking me to close it or wait.

my question is what does CCC.EXE do? and is it safe to kill it/stop it from running.

ccc.exe belongs to ati catalyst control center. Have you actually tried to reinstall ati software to see if the problem would go away?
